Young Royals Wiki

Episode 1 is the first episode of the first season of Young Royals, and the first episode of the series overall.

Synopsis[]

Following a scandal, Prince Wilhelm enrolls in a new boarding school, Hillerska Boarding School. His second cousin, August, plans an initiation party in his honor.

Plot[]

We meet Wilhelm, the protagonist of the series for the first time. He is the face of a recent scandal in which he got drunk and then had a fight. As a result, he is being sent to private boarding school Hillerska, which he objects to.

He struggles to read out a speech saying he will go to this boarding school, because that is the will of his parents. We learn that Wilhelm is not the Crown Prince, the second son of the Swedish monarchy.

Erik and Wilhelm drive to Hillerska. August, the cousin of Wilhelm and Erik, welcomes Wilhelm to the school. Alexander (a fellow student) and Wilhelm dispute about carrying bags. They take photographs for the crown. Wilhelm meets several teachers and the headmistress, also taking photos.

Wilhelm waves to Felice, and hears the school choirs song. August and Erik bicker about girls. Simon is told to sing louder by a student. Wilhelm is enthralled by Simon’s singing and we see him smile truly for the first time. Erik and Wilhelm run away from the photographers.

August and his classmates begin to plan a get-together for Wilhelm. August wonders whether Simon would be able to get some alcohol for them at the party.

Erik and Wilhelm talk about the school and August, as well as the pressure of the monarchy. Wilhelm refuses to let go of Erik and doesn’t want him to leave. Erik leaves him at the school.

August introduces himself to Simon, and they organise a deal that Simon will supply him with alcohol for the party if Simon is to be invited to the party despite him only being a first year.

In the stable, Felice has trouble with her horse, and Sara takes care of the horse instead: she is a horse-whisperer of sorts. She cleans up the horse in the stable as well, but Felice takes over and clearly doesn’t like Sara.

Felice tells Sara to leave with Simon, and dismisses Sara’s request to ride the horse, visibly upset. Simon and Sara talk about their old school and how different it is at Hillerska. They get on the bus and take photos, talking about Prince Wilhelm.

Felice is interrupted by her roommate. They talk about men and royals. Her roommate leaves and Felice posts on Instagram. She is clearly influential, because the comments are also envious of her life.

Simon’s family prepare and eat dinner with his friend Ayub. Sara complains about the family’s manners. They talk about school. Sara asks for new clothes which are expensive. Sara then storms off, upset. Simon explains they were invited by a party.

Wilhelm eats dinner with the students (first-years), and August supervises. The Housemaster introduces Wilhelm to the group. They say Grace, and begin to eat.

Simon is gaming and asks for help with the alcohol problem. Ayub tells him not to go to his dad for help, because it always makes him sad.

Wilhelm wants to go home.

In the morning, they discuss economics and contrasting taxes on rich and poor people. Simon chuckles, and shares his opinion. He disses the Swedish Crown and looks and Wilhelm.

During Lunch, Wilhelm sits next to Simon and take to him about Forest Ridge. He explains he is a non-resident, and they introduce themselves. Wilhelm seems to like Simon, and they talk about the economics class. August invites Wilhelm to sit with the third years, claiming he is ‘rescuing him’.

Simon approaches August. They negotiate terms and talk about the alcohol. Simon goes to see his dad, and asks for some alcohol. It is clear they haven’t seen each other in a while. Simon’s dad is separated from the family, and they don’t communicate often. Simon reminds his dad that he is gay, but his dad agrees to supply the alcohol.

Wilhelm endured an initiation ritual, and then the party begins. The third years chat to Wilhelm. Simon and Sara enter the party. August explains that he invited them. Wilhelm drinks and dances. Sara helps Felice as she throws up from the alcohol. They go outside. Simon and Wilhelm go outside together, and Wilhelm sings. They talk about Simon’s singing and how he stood out from the rest. Wilhelm says he likes it at Hillerska. They hide from August and his friends, who think that he escaped with a girl. Wilhelm and Simon almost kiss.
