Synopsis[]
Hillerska Boarding School hosts a spirited Parents' Weekend but a bevy of surprises, disappointments and more occur for Wilhelm, August, Felice and Simon.
Plot[]
Wilhelm and Simon greet each other in the music room. Simon is at the piano, struggling to read the sheet music of the school song. Wilhelm notes that Simon is playing the soprano line, while he usually is a tenor. Wilhelm comments that Simon doesn't know how to read sheet music. Simon explains that he is trying to learn, and usually plays by ear. Simon asks Wilhelm to teach the song. Wilhelm plays, and Simon imitates him. Simon then tries to talk about what happened the previous Friday, but Wilhelm, uncomfortable, tells him it's best to just forget it. They are interrupted by a girl. Wilhelm says he still wants to remain friends.
In the riding ring, Felice is unable to get Rousseau to jump the hurdles. The instructor says that it is enough for Rousseau today. Felice, frustrated, asks why Rousseau won't cooperate. The instructor replies that Rousseau is anxious. Sara leads Rousseau back to the stables. Walking together, Felice inquires if Sara's parents will show up on Parent's Day. Sara replies that her mom is, but not her father because she has no contact with him and he is a bad person. Felice then says that her father only wants her to get good grades and that her mother believes she can jump the 1.20 bar, which she actually can't.
August and Wilhelm are at rowing practice. August comments that their team is great because they've got "blue blood". He then inquires if Wilhelm's mother, the Queen, will be present on Parent's Day. Wilhelm denies, saying that she and his father are on a state trip.
In the boys' locker room, Wilhelm and Simon exchange awkward glances.
Through out the day, Wilhelm keeps glancing at Simon, who shows no emotion. Wilhelm tosses and turns in his bed, then scrolling through Simon's Instagram posts. Wilhelm leaves his room, and spots a couple kissing in the hallway. He stares at himself in the bathroom mirror.
The boys' rowing team work out in the gym room. Wilhelm attempts to greet Simon, who ignores him. Wilhelm invites him to stay over at school during the Parent's Day weekend. Simons asks what happened to "forgetting about it", with Wilhelm replying that he takes it back. They smile and reconcile.
Parent's Day arrives and the students are reunited with their parents. They all go to the chapel, where the school choir sings the Swedish national anthem. Sara notices Simon and Wilhelm smiling at each other throughout the anthem.
After the singing ends, the headmistress asks to speak to August's mother privately. Felice and her mother go to her dorm, where her mother gifts her a Louis Vuitton dress. Her mother asks Felice how school has been, and further inquires about how Wilhelm is settling in. Both Felice and her mother become excited when Felice says she's getting good "vibes" from Wilhelm.
The students and their parents gather in the main hall to take a photo. Later, August approaches Simon, saying that they don't have room for more guests, since Parent's Day is for boarders only. Sara states that their mother is already here. August says he'll rearrange the tables so there is more room. Simon is annoyed.
Outside, August approaches Wilhelm and asks a photographer to take photos of them. Wilhelm excuses himself to make a phone call. Wilhelm facetimes his brother, Crown Prince Erik, who encourages to go out and shake hands with people. Wilhelm tells Erik that he plans on staying at school over the weekend to study. Erik states it's strange that Wilhelm wants to stay at school, and asks if he's met someone. Wilhelm confesses that there is someone, but he isn't exactly sure if they're a couple or not. Erik teases Wilhelm about his "crush", and they end the phone call.
At lunch, Felice's family is seated with Sara and Simon, and they chat. Wilhelm later joins their table and is introduced to Linda, Sara and Simon's mother. The table begins to talk about horses. Sara states that she rides, cares after and cleans for Rousseau, surprising Felice's parents. Felice excuses herself from the table and cries in a hallway. Wilhelm, goes after her to comfort her. Felice says that she can never do anything right, to which Wilhelm responds saying that everyone thinks she is perfect. Felice asks Wilhelm if he thinks she is perfect, and he says yes. Felice kisses Wilhelm. He struggles for words for a moment, and she leaves in distress.
Linda comments on how beautiful the school grounds are. By the lake, August discusses his tuition with his mother. She tells him that she doesn't have the resources and that he'll have to liquidate some things of Arnas. August states that he would rather die. He voices his disappointment in not being able to count on his mother. He tells her to go home as he will be staying at school instead.
Simon spots August walking away and goes after him. August tells Simon to leave him alone and pushes him.
Wilhelm stands by the lake, gazing at it. Back at the dorms, students begin readying themselves for the evening. Felice is alone in her room, crying.
Simon calls his friends, and they meet him at the school to discuss his problems with money and negotiating with his father, Micke. Simon firmly believes that August is just messing with him, stating that the money owed is like pocket change to August. Simon wants August to realize that he's serious about the money, and his friends agree to help him.
August walks out of the gym room and asks what Simon is doing outside on the school grounds. Simon demands that August transfer him money right now, but August brushes it off. Simon attacks August, pining him to the ground while his friends tell him to stop. August confesses that he has no money but Simon insists on getting what he is owed.
Simon rides home with his friends. Rosh tells him that she doesn't know what they're doing to Simon at school, but that he is no better than August. He attempts to apologize, but Rosh and Ayub ride off. Simon enters his house, where he is greeted by his mother and surprised by Sara, who was waiting in his room. She asks where he was, guessing he was at school with Wilhelm. Sara inquires about their relationship, but Simon just tells her that it's complicated. They playfully wrestle and Sara teases Simon. He tells her he'll "spill the beans" tomorrow.
At school, Felice knocks on August's door. She asks to come in, and tells him that she knows he's into her. They kiss and begin to have sex on his bed.
At his home, Simon packs for an overnight stay. He lies to his mom, saying that he is staying over at Ayub's. At school, the students are having breakfast. Wilhelm texts Simon, asking to talk. At his dorm, Wilhelm tells Simon that August is staying at school and will be on Wilhelm constantly. Simon figures that he'll be unable to stay at school. Wilhelm then asks Simon if he could stay with him at Bjärstad for the weekend, stating that he wants to hang out with Simon. Simon agrees, and they walk outside. On the school grounds, students are clutching their phones and whispering about Wilhelm. The school counselor asks to speak to Wilhelm, who is visibly confused.
Wilhelm is led to the headmistress's office and asks if he is in trouble. The office phone rings, and the headmistress has Wilhelm answer it. His mother, on the other side of the phone, emotionally tells him that his brother Erik got into a car accident and passed away.
