Crown Prince Erik of Sweden was one of the main characters in Young Royals. He was portrayed by Ivar Forsling.

Background[]
His background isn't portrayed much during the series, but he was the heir apparent until his tragic death caused by a car crash. He was the elder brother to the protagonist, Wilhelm. He is also the first son to Kristina and Ludvig.

Season 1[]
Episode 1[]
Erik accompanies his family while Wilhelm makes his public apology for his behavior and announces that he will be continuing his education at Hillerska. He drives Wilhelm to his new school, greeting August, a current student, in a friendly manner. There is an awkward moment as the three men take a picture together for the press, as Wilhelm begins to feel left out. They all go in to watch the choir perform, and Erik and August continue to talk animatedly to one another.
After the performance, Erik whispers to Wilhelm to run away from the press on three, and the two of them take off together. Erik reassures Wilhelm that being at Hillerska will become easier with time, especially in dealing with August and the other upper class boys. When Erik finally has to leave, Wilhelm clings to him, and watches him walk away sadly.
Episode 2[]
Erik calls Wilhelm to check up on him, but August answers instead, hogging the phone from Wille and making jokes with the Crown Prince. Wilhelm expresses his frustration with Erik, but his brother urges him to be patient with August, as the school has been his home since his father took his own life. Wilhelm sees Simon from his window and ends the call venting that he didn't know that and that they never tell him anything.
Episode 3[]
Wilhelm calls Erik on parents' day because he is nervous about meeting everyone, and his brother offers him encouragement. When Wille tells him that he might stay for the weekend, Erik teases him saying that he has a crush, which Wilhelm admits. Erik chastises him jokingly to get out of his room and spend time with this mystery person, and they both laugh as the call ends. Later on in the episode, Wilhelm gets a call from his mother saying that Erik has been killed in a car accident.
Physical Appearance[]
He is tall (the tallest of his family), and thin with light brown hair and blue eyes. During official business, he is in a navy suit and when he is at home, he is normally in a polo and slacks.
Personality[]
He loves his family a lot and he respects his royal heritage. His personality is quite serious yet bubbly at the same time. He and Wilhelm seem to be very close and have a cute brotherly relationship. He is incredibly kind hearted. Wilhelm described him as a "kind and thoughtful" person who was his role model. It seems that he has built a right balance of being the Crown Prince and a normal person.

They appear to have a good working relationship as Crown Prince and Queen. Erik is the Kristina's favourite as he was the 'perfect' heir thanks to his temperament and dedication to his Crown Prince duties. Kristina constantly compares Wilhelm to Erik suggesting she sees Erik as perfect and wants Wilhelm to live up to him.

Erik and August were close friends at Hillerska maybe even as close as brothers.

- He loves driving sport cars.
- His favourite song is Remember by Seinabo Sei which was sang by Hillerska Choir in the fourth episode of Season 1.
- He gave a snow globe showing a frog prince as a gift to his brother Wilhelm before he arrived at Hillerska. Erik knew that Wilhelm always wanted to have that snow globe.
- He was a former member of The Society when he was a student at Hillerska Boarding School.
- He was a member of the rowing team when he was a student at Hillerska Boarding School.
- He was possibly aware of the fact that Wilhelm might not be heterosexual, so he did not use a specific pronoun when addressing Wilhelm's crush.
- His funeral was broadcast live on TV in all of Sweden.
- He was trained to be the future King, so he was aware of the fact that he always has to keep up to the appearances.
