Trivia[]

  • On December 15, 2022, Ryding and Rudberg made their US television debut as guests on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where they promoted Young Royals and its upcoming third and final season.[9][10]
  • On March 19, 2024, Ryding went onto say that shooting season 3, he felt a sense of liberty and freedom.[11]
    • Lisa Ambjörn went onto say that they had had a long time to process the ending of the series. But that she still feels so privileged as a writer and creator to get to decide when the story ends, because that's not the case a lot of the time.[12]
    • Ryding for his part had words for the characters: “Take care. Keep going. You’re on the right path. Set boundaries and be exactly who you are, because you deserve to be.” Rudberg adds, “Thank you for everything.” And then, it’s time to let Wilhelm and Simon go. “It’s up to the audience, they’re the screenwriters now,” Ryding says. “We’re literally handing over the responsibility of these characters’ futures to them. And I have 100% trust that they will come up with something brilliant.”[13]
  • On March 18, 2024, a special, Young Royals Forever, was released alongside the final episode and featured a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the show through to the filming of the third season.[14]
  • When asked if he could share a tidbit of information he had never shared with anyone in an episode he appeared in of Tommy DiDario's I’ve Never Said This Before podcast, Rudberg's mind immediately went to Ryding. “People might be sad about the show ending and not seeing me and Edvin acting together anymore or working together anymore, but you know what? Me and Edvin are going to do some stuff together in the future," Rudberg revealed.[15]
  • According to Edvin, when asked how much did he have to run to get the perfect take for that final scene in the series finale Ryding said he had run far too much. Moreover, he had to reshoot it, because he was running in some fancy shoes, so it was not easy to do, and his calves were hurting for like a week after it.[16]
  • Although the song Simon wrote this season is intended as a crescendo moment, Ryding and Rudberg described having a very different reaction to stating that they, “hated it from the beginning”. With Rudberg also stating that he initially did not like it, and thought it was really cringe.[17]
